Assess Me! Get to Know Me Linky!

Hi everyone!  Can you believe it is almost August (insert sad face)!
I haven't accomplished enough in my downtime to go back to work yet!   Wait?!  Downtime?  Accomplish?  Do they go together?

I am joining a fellow NC Teacher Blogger, The Tattooed Teacher, for her Assess Me, Get to Know Me Linky!

Join Rachel for week one:

1.  I do not talk out loud to my self, but I think we all talk to ourselves in our head.  Right?
2.  I am not superstitious 95% of the time, but I swear there is something fishy with my mother.  We both were born October 30th - the day before Halloween.  She can say something & before long it seems to happen.  Just the other day, she said, "It's a wonder Zach hasn't gotten a ticket driving back and forth to Boone each weekend."  I quickly knocked on wood.  I swear the next trip to Boone Zach got a warning ticket for a burnt out headlight!  NO LIE!
3.  I DO NOT crack my knuckles and cannot stand the sound of it!  Gives me the heebie jeebies!
4.  I can always snack!
5.  TV is always on.  I like the noise.
6.  I still have my wisdom teeth.
7.  I always shower even if I plan to stay home in my pajamas!  It just wakes me up.
8.  I have been to Disney on one week long trip & 2 very short trips.  Once on New Year's Eve.  Don't do it!  Horribly crowded.  The park was at full capacity by 10 a.m.  We parked it at 4 pm to wait on fireworks because it wasn't worth fighting the crowd for rides.
9.  I have been wearing glasses since I was 35.  I fight it, but I have to wear them to see far away.   I have contacts, but I don't like to wear them either.
10.  I actually live in the same state where I was born.  All 3 of my kiddos will graduate from my same high school.
Todd and I @ North Davidson High School.
Kaitlyn's senior year @ NDSH.
Zach's senior year @ NDSH.
Tanner's 8th grade year @ NDMS.
Link up for some fun!

Monday Made It

I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It.

First up, I created new pieces to my calendar to go along with my new theme - birds.
I created them with my Cricut Explore Air which I am obsessed with.
The birds say, "Today is, Yesterday was, and Tomorrow will be."
I will use velcro to move them to the appropriate days of the week.
Below is the beginning of the bulletin board where they go.
I am going to make my own calendar board to match the polka dots.  I can't seem to find anything I like, yet.
I did not make the actual ABCs and 123s, but bought them from the Moffatt Girls.  It is called
Bird Themed Word Wall & More.  But I did back them & laminate them.
What I did make was the pinwheels above using my Cricut Explore Air.  I am going to use them as flowers at the bottom of a bulletin board and think they turned out adorable.

July Pinterest Pick 3

I am joining two wonderful bloggers @ Pawsitely Teaching and Inspired Owl's Corner
for their monthly Linky.  I hope you join us and get inspired to Pin Your Heart Away!

FOR THE HOME:
This pin comes from DIY & Crafts.
I have a guest bathroom & a college kiddos bathroom that could really use some organization.  I love how this organization actually serves as decoration also IF kept neatly.  I might would lower the baskets and then add a phrase or something above.

FOR ME:
This pin originally came from Kikikins Etsy Shop.
I am always pinning scrapbook layouts and cards.

After I saw this pin, I headed to Michaels and bought a coordinated set of Fabric Tape and began making my own.  I even created a little box to keep them in.

 FOR THE CLASSROOM:
This pin originally came from the blog Simply the Middle.
As I mentioned in my July Currently, I am changing up my theme a bit & adding birds to the owl theme that took over my classroom.  I was going to take down ALL owl borders and replace with polka dots.  When I saw this Word Wall I knew I had to add polka dot ribbon like Amie did.

Happy Fourth!  I am off to shop for borders and polka dots!

Currently - July

Today is July 1st - my parents' 45th wedding anniversary.
Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad!  I love you!
My mom & dad at my daughter's college graduation 2 months ago.

I am joining Farley @ Oh Boy It's 4th Grade for her monthly Currently event.
Come join, too!

Listening: to my son play basketball on the Playstation!
If he isn't outside playing basketball, he is inside playing it on the goal in his room, or playing it on the Playstation.  Basketball is his passion!  (He now tells me that is an Xbox, not Playstation!)

Loving:  all the zucchini recipes I have been making this week.
My husband's garden has done well this summer.  We have zucchini, cucumbers, and squash galore!  He is waiting on those tomatoes!   I found some of the best zucchini recipes on the planet.   On the left, Parmesan Zucchini & Corn Salad.  In the middle, Three Cheese Zucchini & Corn Crustless Pie.  And on the right, Three Cheese Zucchini roll ups & Parmesan Zucchini Rounds!  Two are healthy & two are not!  Can you guess which ones?

No, owls are not my favorite animal.
Thinking:  about changing my classroom theme.
I have only had the owl theme for three years, but year 1 & 2, they took over!  If it has an owl on it, I probably have it!  I am thinking about keeping some owls in my room, but broadening it to include several other birds!  Welcome to the nest!
I love everything about this!
Wanting:  to create a scrapbook space that is beautiful and functional.
When I look on Pinterest for scrapbook room ideas, I drool.  Currently, I have taken over part of my daughter's room.  She doesn't live here anymore, but it is still her room when she comes home.  I would love to paint, put up shelves, and decorate to make it my own.  I guess I will after a little more time of Kaitlyn being on her own.  For now, I will just keep pinning!  Just keep pinning!

Needing:  to get better.
I began a diet in January and successfully got down to my realistic goal weight by my goal date! However, just a month into it, I began having stomach issues.  I have been to the doctor 3 times since late March and the issues continue.  Surgery was on the table for summer, but after my last visit my doctor decided to send me for further testing on Monday.  I just want to feel normal - recurring kidney stones, migraines, and allergies are enough already!

All Star:  I am pretty good at solving problems.
My husband says, "I have a solution for everything!"  I don't think he means that as a compliment, though!  No but really, if you have a problem and ask for my help, I will help you solve it.  I will find the solution or make the solution!

Have a wonderful day & go link up!
