Time Out is Over and Currently

Hi everyone!

I've missed the blogging world for a few weeks.

One of my goals this summer was to learn to relax and not spend so much time on school related activities.  I began the summer with 3 book studies and was trying to blog about 2 of them every few days.  By the time July came around I was still blogging about 2 of those, working on my Teacher of the Year Portfolio, and tutoring 2 days a week.  I just keep thinking to myself.... "I'll work on that relaxing goal later!"  A week before vacation, I finished my portfolio and decided it was time!

I took time off and by the time I went to the beach I had it down pat!

 My beach buddies were surprised I worked on nothing school related the entire trip!  No lie!

It made the time at the beach go by much slower.

A week home from the beach and I am still on beach time.  I just can't seem to shake it.

So, today I am diving back in again.  I am beginning my Meet the Teacher Gift for my kiddos!

Hopefully, I will have them made for Made It Monday.

Listening:  My ipod has quite the variety.  I love country music, but also like rap, pop, and jazz.  

Loving:  With 3 kids, it is sometimes hard to find time alone with each other.  We try.  Yesterday, we rode the motorcycle to the mountains to visit friends.  We rode around on the mountain trails in their ATV, ate avocado salad and had some homemade ice cream.  Then, on the way home, we stopped to have a very late snack! 

Thinking:  Time goes by so fast.  Summer is almost gone.  My middle child is now a senior and my oldest just seems to come visit now.  Wish I could zap them back in time!

Wanting:  Usually by this time of the year we know our class list and most know their assistants.  

Needing:  The piles of laundry never end!  

Back to School Must Haves:  

1)  I've had my chair pockets for several years and I am gradually buying new ones to replace.  They are from Aussie Pouch.  Click the picture to go there.

2)  I've said it before, but I must say it again.  I cannot start the school year without my Mr .Sketch Markers!

3)  I always give my students something on Meet the Teacher Night as a welcome present.  For the past few years it has been a survival kit.  It is time for something new.  I bought some craft items from Stampin UP and plan to make something owl themed.

June Currently

Yippee!  It's June 1st, that means school is almost out!

I am so ready to shut down the alarm clock for a few months and stay in my pajamas all day!

Time to join Farley's June Currently.

 

Listening:  I am listening to my puppy destroy a cardboard box while my kiddos watch Shrek on tv.  This morning Rascal climbed onto the table, got into my purse, destroyed a pill bottle containing my last 6 amoxicillin pills.  Thank goodness he is okay!

Loving: 5 1/2 days of school left!  I may be more excited than my kids.  You just don't understand how much I am NOT a morning person.  I cannot wait to stay up late, sleep late, wear NO make up, and stay in my comfy clothes all day long if I want to!

Thinking: One of my really good friends for 15 years lost her daddy this morning.  Another childhood friend's father is battling cancer.  I pray God wraps his arms around both these dear friends and brings them strength and comfort.  

Wanting:  I want a long date with my hubby.  I want to hop on the back of his Harley, drive to some small town, eat at some quaint restaurant, stay in some hotel, and wake up with nothing on the To-Do list!  But, at this point, I would even settle for dinner and a movie! 

Needing:  I never stop working or doing or moving or thinking.  Even when I am watching tv, I have to be doing something else.  Do you know how hard it is for me to sit still for a pedicure and manicure in the same appointment!  It is almost torture!  This summer, I need to find a way to do nothing at least sometimes.

3 Vacation Essentials:  Flip Flops - they are not just for vacation!  Sunshade - I need a little sun, but I do not like to get too much sun.  I prefer to sit under the umbrella on the beach.  A Good Book - I have 4 or 5 lined up and ready to crack June 13th!

                     OMG! I forgot the camera - turn the car around.  I have to take pictures or there will be no vacation!  If I cannot scrap it, there was no vacation!

Time for Currently!

Listening:  Everyday I come home from work and my son is outside playing basket ball with   friends.  This goes on until super time even if it is drizzling outside or really cold.  

Loving:  In just a few days my daughter will finish her Sophomore Year in College.  She is going for a double major (Accounting/Finance) with a minor in Women's Studies.  She will be home for almost a month before she starts her summer internship with Ally Financial!  I am so proud of her.

Thinking:  I am too tired to cook or clean tonight!  I just completed a 2 day workshop on Reading 3D - a workshop on how to use our iPads to do Assessments and Benchmarks K-2 in NC.  It was a lot of information to take in over 2 days.  Add the stress of preparing extremely detailed lesson plans for a substitute and stress of lesson planning for next week means I need some Vitameatavegamin.   (Absolutely, 1 of my 2 favorite Lucy episodes of all times!)  

Random fact #1 - At our Vow Renewal almost 2 years ago,  at the end of the ceremony, we walked down the aisle to the I LOVE LUCY theme song!  It received quite the laughs!  Random fact #2 - My grandmother's name was Lucy and my hubby calls me Lucy!

 

Wanting:  I want to send out a huge Thank You to all those who donated products and those who donated to the Jogging for Jonah Cause!  The Jog is in 2 days and I raised quite a bit of money.  We have made a huge difference!  Thank you all!

Needing:  I need to clean this nasty house- a deep clean!  But, if I clean it tonight and you come over tomorrow, GUESS WHAT?  You won't know how hard I worked because...  there will be another load of laundry, another load of dishes, and dog toys all over house again!   I would rather do something like scrapbook a few pages.  Now that, I can feel accomplished about & it will live on!

Summer Bucket List:  

1)  Beach - a trip to the beach is always a must!  We will be going Late July.

2) Scrapbook - I have already booked a Scrapbook Weekend @ a local winery in July and registered for classes at a Creating Keepsakes event in August!.  

3) I am on the Wait List to become an Origami Owl Designer.  I have always loved charm bracelets for as long as I can remember and when I saw these beautiful lockets, I was hooked!  I needed to find another way to help pay for college and I new this was it.  I can't wait for this journey to begin!  Wish me luck!

Happy New Year!

Listening:  I am listening to Phillip Phillips' new CD.  I picked him during the audition phase of American Idol.  We love the audition & Hollywood phase.  Then, we quit watching until near the end.  I love his voice.

Loving:  It was a crazy Christmas time for my mom this year.  So, she gave her 3 children mostly gift certificates.  Love it!  I have been to Texas Roadhouse and Olive Garden in just the past 3 days.  I don't think my scales are so appreciative.

Thinking:  It will be a miracle if I make it to work on time tomorrow considering how late I have slept over the break.  With 2 migraines in the past week, I have had to sleep those away also!

Wanting:  We have talked 5 years now about decorating our bedroom, but my husband swore when we painted to sell the last house, he would never paint again.  He has almost kept his word.  He did paint the guest bathroom a beautiful blue.  I am the only girl in the house most of the time.  I need a place to call my own - a place without video games and wrestling boys.  a restful and relaxing place.

Needing:  I have migraines and kidney stones.  I am on a preventative for migraines and over the holidays it has not helped.  I recently visited the hospital for migraine with panic attack.  In mid August, I had to have surgery from kidney stones.   I have been given a list of food to avoid by both my neurologist and my urologist!  If I follow their advice I can basically eat grass and should be really skinny!  What favorite foods should I avoid:  peanuts, chocolate, soda and sweet tea.  When I am trying to diet, what good foods do I need to avoid? - spinach, blueberries, bananas, raspberries, pineapple, etc.   The list is enormous!  :(

One Little Word:  I need to remember to pray continuously!

Currently

I can't believe it is already the 3rd day of the month & time for currently again.  October is the best month of the year!  In 9 days, I will celebrate my 21st anniversary.  In 23 days, my handsome hubby will turn 43.  In 27 days, I will turn ?? on the same day as my mom turns 61!  There are festivals and fairs everywhere & the leaves are beginning to turn.

     It's so hard to believe it is July already.  Summer is slipping away right before my eyes and before I know it I will be standing in front of a new bunch of firsties.  So, it is time again to link up with Farley @  Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

 Ever happen to you?

Today was my first.

After school, I learned my principal of 9 years is being transferred to the middle school.

She has been a wonderful person to work for who genuinely cares about her staff and students professionally and personally.

She knows the names and circumstances of my husband, children,

and parents.  Not because she can, but because she cares.

She has turned our school into a family and I consider her a friend.

Her door is always open and her phone was always on if she was needed.

I will miss her presence and influence in our school

and in my classroom.

She believes in me and has pushed me to always be my best.

I will try to look on the bright side.

She will now be the eyes I do not have @ the middle school

where my son will attend next year.
