Math - Three Addends

As the 3rd nine weeks come to an end, we are spending our time reviewing standards before the 3rd nine weeks test.  I created a roll 3 game to practice adding 3 numbers.  Students love DICE GAMES and writing on the desks were a bonus!  I think they have "finding a double" and "making a ten" down pat.

Maps

Just a quick post tonight to share a fun activity from our map unit.  On day one of our transition from landforms to maps, I introduced students to different types of maps.  Their favorite was the topographical map showing the highs and lows of the land.
To add to their excitement, I took their photos and printed them in black and white.  We discussed the highs and lows of their facial features and mapped them.
They loved it!

March Currently

I'm joining Farley for her monthly Currently!  Won't you join in the fun?

Listening - Wednesday Nights are tv nights at my house.  First, there is Survivor.  A little known fact:  I began watching in season 3 when I was pregnant with my 3rd child (almost 14). I contemplated naming him after Colby from that season.  Can you blame me?   Next, Criminal Minds for the detective in me!  Lastly, @10:00 (past my bedtime) is Nasheville!
I've been told he looks like my husband.
Loving:  I wish every week could be Dr. Seuss week.  Each day this week first grade is highlighting a few of Dr. Seuss's books with fun activities.  Today, we read Wacky Wednesday.  Of course, we had to dress wacky!   We also highlighted One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.  Colored Goldfish were the snack of the day.
Thinking:  The weather is crazy these days!  I am so hoping the weathermen get it wrong tomorrow.  We have had 8 snow days since mid January and have only made up 1 of those.
Wanting:  With the hint of Spring today, I seriously need some new slip-ons.  I saw the cutest pair on Pinterest the other day.  I'm not picky, though.  I'd take a knock off pair.
Needing:  Really, can a teacher have too many pens or markers?  NO!  I lost a black marker.  Can't live without it.  Need a new box!
Spring Break Plans:  It has been since last year (after Christmas) since the 5 of us have been under the same roof.  I don't like having 2 in college.  I want them little again - under 1 roof!  NOW!
I would gladly go back to this age in a heartbeat!  (Currently, they are 21, 19, and days away from 14.)

Hope you have a wonderful March!

March Pick 3 Linky

I am joining two fabulous blogs for a linky sharing 3 favorite Pinterest Picks.
I love, love, absolutely love, this "poster!"
I will be recreating this for my main entrance into the classroom.

In my search for a better balance, I want to craft more than just in the summer.  To boost moral at school our PBIS team just started secret pals.  I think I will be making a version of this for my special pal the next chance I get!
I have been dieting since Jan. 25 and have lost 12 pounds on Weight Watchers.  I have cooked more & made better choices, but today I almost gave in and went for the fast food fix.  I was tired, my back ached, I worked late & spent over an hour at the laundry mat washing a huge comforter.
I didn't cave!
But, if I had, this would have been the perfect pin for me to make a healthy choice in the drive thru line!
Come join the fun!
